This is Mponiniaina. With the support of people like you, a hand-washing facility was installed at her school in the Vakinankaratra region, Madagascar. Before this teachers and pupils had no clean water to drink and no way of cleaning their hands at school. Diarrhoea caused by dirty water and poor toilets kills a child under 5 every 2 minutes, and keeps many more out of school on a regular basis. But the simple act of washing hands with clean water can nearly halve the chances of getting it. Now Mponiniaina and her classmates are at less risk of hygiene-related diseases and can spend more time in school.
